Nicesheriffs Acquired by Registry Trust from Shergroup

Nicesheriffs – the register and tracking system for High Court Writs – has been acquired by Registry Trust from Shergroup.

Registry Trust is the non-profit company limited by guarantee which was formed in 1985 to rescue the Register of County Court Judgments.

Shergroup, the new trading name of Burchell and Ruston, Solicitors developed the Nicesheriff system in tandem with reforms to High Court enforcement for the benefit of various stakeholders...

Access to a central register of writs and insolvency notices is essential for High Court enforcement officers under the Courts Act 2003. The Act requires enforcement officers to have adequate arrangements to deal with issues surrounding the priority of writs and insolvency.

Announcing the change of ownership, the chairman of Registry Trust Malcolm Hurlston, assured enforcement officers that the Trust would manage the Writs register to the highest standards and develop it to meet their needs

He congratulated the Shergroup partners on their initiative

The change of ownership has received the support of Master Turner and of the chairman of the High Court Enforcement Officers Association.

Speaking for Shergroup, Claire Sandbrook said - We have successfully got this vital register up and running and we are happy to see its development move to safe hands in the non-profit sector

After a period of transition and joint working, it is planned that Registry Trust will take full responsibility for the running of the register of writs from mid-March 2006.
