The questions that should be asked by the MoJ and the enforcement industry are as follows: What sort of industry do we want to be part of, and what should we expect of enforcement agents, the companies that employ them and the associations that represent them? |
Shergroup CEO, Claire Sandbrook, gives her personal view on recent televisual revelations about the bailiff industry and the questions that all those with an interest in the industry must ask themselves.
The recent 'Exposure' television programme broadcast on ITV, focusing as it did on the behaviour of one particular bailiff employed by a major enforcement company, has naturally given rise to a certain amount of comment. It is not really my place to remark on the actions of the individual or the statements made by the Chief Executive of the company that employed him, particularly as my company does not involve itself in the specific line of work that this programme was focusing upon, and in any case I think my views would largely correspond with most of those already voiced by operators who have the best interests of the future of the enforcement industry at heart.
What I would say, however, is that this programme gives the industry as a whole the best chance it has had for a long time to take a good, long, hard look at itself. Many within the industry profess to want to do what is best for not only the industry but also for all those we come into contact with - creditors, debtors, the judiciary, the advice sector - during the course of our work. Those same people will profess their desire to work hand in hand with their professional associations and trade bodies, the MoJ and other central and local government bodies to achieve this goal, which is all well and good, but are they prepared to ask themselves and their colleagues the hard questions that need answering urgently...

Shergroup's Transfer Service Prevents Landlords Losing Out On Vital Rental Income |
 |
With house rental prices in the UK climbing 4% in the last year alone, landlords are losing even more in rent from non-paying tenants, and they are having to wait up to eight weeks to enforce possession of their properties.
The result is thousands of pounds lost in unpaid rents and the risk of properties being trashed and left uninhabitable, further adding to the owners' woes.
To combat this problem, Shergroup has launched a new online transfer service to accelerate the speed of authorisation for collecting outstanding rent arrears, recovering possession of premises from residential tenants where a possession order has been granted by the courts |

Shergroup Security In Player Sponsorship Deal |
 |
Building on the links highlighted in Bulletin 6 that Chris Bell, Shergroup Policy Advisor and resident Sports Mastermind, has made with London Welsh RFC as a result of running a charity quiz for them a number of months back, Shergroup Security is proud to announce that it has dipped its toe into the world of sports sponsorship by sponsoring a player at the club for the coming season.
The player concerned is Mike Denbee, a new signing this season who plays at flank forward. Mike is 27 years old and measures in at 6'1" tall and a beefy 15½ stones - ideal not only for a flank forward but also for a career in security and enforcement should he want one after his rugby career is finished... |

Shergroup Parliamentary lunch an overwhelming success

Monday 21st November was yet another ground-breaking day for Shergroup as they held their first Parliamentary lunch at the House of Commons. The occasion, jointly hosted by Priti Patel, the MP for Witham, and Claire Sandbrook, Shergroup CEO, was greatly enjoyed by the 50 guests who attended, and it may well now become an annual event.
Guests from across the country, including representatives from both Houses of Parliament, the senior judiciary, local government, the legal profession, the media world, the advice and charitable sector, the enforcement profession and senior government policy officials, enjoyed lunch in one of the House of Commons dining rooms before being entertained by speeches from the hosts.
Shergroup were particularly delighted to have Priti Patel MP joint-hosting the event. Priti is one of the rising stars in the political firmament, having made a considerable impression since she was first elected to Parliament in 2010, and she gave an entertaining and thought-provoking talk that covered a number of subjects.
Amongst the topics she covered were the Dale Farm evictions and their aftermath - Priti has regularly asked Parliamentary questions and led...
