Sherforce
was recently featured on the BBC's "Inside
Out" programme, where it was filmed recovering
thousands of pounds owed to property investors,
working with Shergroup's client, Landlord Action.
Sherforce Enforcement Officers attended the home of a property investment adviser, who had been
ordered by the small claims court to pay back more than £10,000 to two investors who were
dissatisfied with the service they had received. The claim was transferred up to the High
Court for enforcement, as it was over £600. As you can see from the picture opposite, there
were plenty of assets to seize at the address of the judgment debtor.
Armed with a High Court Writ of Fi Fa, a Sherforce Enforcement Officer arranged for a recovery
vehicle to remove the defendant's cars to sell at auction, but the money was paid just in time to
prevent the car from being loaded on to the low loader.
Claire Sandbrook, Chief Executive of Shergroup,
the parent company of Sherforce, said: "People
are often unaware of their rights or are too
afraid to take legal action, fearing the costs
involved."
"However, anyone with a dispute like
this or problems with tenants should seek
to get their judgment enforced in the High
Court, where Sherforce can take care of the
transfer of the judgment and then enforce
payment."
As a result of the TV programme, Sherforce received a pat on the back from
the investor involved, and a further judgment to enforce for over £3000 from
another creditor who had not been able to get any success from the County Court
enforcement service. Sherforce did attend on this second judgment and was paid
again in full.
