SHERGROUP WELCOMES GOVERNMENT "MAJOR MILESTONE" ON DEBT |
The Government’s hardening approach to debt recovery and its new “get tough” approach to people who do not pay compensation awarded by Employment Tribunals has been welcomed as a “major milestone” by the Chief Executive of Shergroup, the UK’s leading High Court Enforcement Agency.
In a written ministerial statement from Justice Minister Jack Straw, plans are set out to make certain the High Court Enforcement Officers’ Association can develop a service whereby successful applicants will be able to instruct a High Court Enforcement Officer to enforce their award or settlement as soon as the respondent fails to pay the sum due.
The costs of enforcement will be recoverable from the respondent, with limited cost liability for the creditor.
The announcement comes after the Chief Executive Officer of Shergroup, Claire Sandbrook, qualified solicitor, held top-level talks with Citizens Advice officials who wanted to highlight a gap in enforcement provision when people had won their Employment Tribunal hearing.
Mrs. Sandbrook, who is also Chair of the UK's High Court Enforcement Officers' Association, says: "We fully endorse the Government's new-found determination to ensure that individuals who are entitled to their Employment Tribunal awards
or ACAS settlements are not denied access to justice by a small minority of unscrupulous individuals or companies who refuse to respect the Tribunal's judgment and...

INCREASES IN ENFORCEMENT FEES CLOSE GAP BETWEEN COUNTY COURT AND HIGH COURT |
 |
“Fee increases introduced earlier this year into the County Court scale of fees have narrowed the differential between choosing either a County Court bailiff or a High Court Enforcement Officer”, says Shergroup’s Chief Executive, Claire Sandbrook.
Shergroup, a leading provider of enforcement services, has seen a steady rise in new instructions as people turn to Shergroup's High Court Enforcement service brands, Sherforce, Sherbond and Sherforce Plus for increased levels of service at almost the same price as the County Courts.
As Claire Sandbrook explains, "The price differential means that instead of court users accepting the no-frills service of the County Court bailiff service, for virtually the same level of investment they can take advantage of the services provided by transferring their orders and judgment...

HIGH PROFILE SITE SECURITY “NEEDS A MAJOR RE-THINK,” SAYS UK'S LEADING ENFORCEMENT AGENCY |
 |
Security enforcement around major industrial and commercial sites of national importance requires a major re-think, according to the UK's leading High Court Enforcement Agency, Shergroup.
As direct campaigners become more expert in mobilising public opposition and taking aggressive direct protest, the threat from a wide range of sources including eco warriors, industrial squatting and disruption to national utilities such as energy, water, and gas is escalating, and Shergroup warns that the commercial costs to the nation of such actions could be "astronomic."
Alan Smith, Chief Operating Officer at Braintree, Essex-based Shergroup, who has responsibility for security, says diverse protest groups are now using Parliamentary campaigns, the courts, the planning process, and the media to back up their site-specific...

SHERGROUP WINS INNOVATION AWARD IN ESSEX BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARDS

The Shergroup team has won an Essex Business Excellence Award in the Innovation category which recognises Shergroup's outstanding achievements in designing and delivering its online systems.
Building on the success of the team's ICM Award for Innovation earlier this year, Shergroup's development of its innovative online case management system, known as "SHERPA", has won the attention of judges in Shergroup's home county of Essex.
The system that Shergroup has developed allows clients to track the progress of the enforcement of their court judgment in real time. This makes the SHERPA system unique in the world of civil court enforcement and has been enough for the company to secure a finalist's place in the Essex Business Excellence Awards' Innovation category.
Featured in this picture is Shergroup's CEO, Claire Sandbrook, along with some of her TEAM, Graeme Scrivener, Graham Smith, Tracey Wright, Vincent Rautenbach, and Chris Badger. Claire, along with David Asker, Chief Technical Officer, and Alan Smith, Chief Operations Officer, who are all authorized by the Lord Chancellor to carry out the enforcement of High Court Writs in England and Wales, worked solidly for a year to design and develop the functionality that makes the SHERPA system a unique piece of software engineering...
