The
past year has seen the Sherbet Foundation, Shergroup's
charity for helping those families affected by
enforcement action, continue its good work. At
the most recent Sherbet Foundation board meeting
(held in October 2011) three awards were granted,
and as a result of those approvals, items ranging
from new cookers to supplies of surgical dressings
have been provided by the charity to families
that our officers found when they called on them
to be suffering from extreme levels of poverty.
Speaking about these awards Claire Sandbrook, Shergroup CEO and a Sherbet Foundation trustee, said:
"In granting these awards, I wish to place on record how very proud I am of the officers who made recommendations for help to the Sherbet Foundation based upon what they found when they encountered some very vulnerable people they met in the course of their duties.
To them I say 'thank you' for making an effort to identify this vulnerability, complete the necessary forms and send these to the Trustees for evaluation. As a result of their efforts the trustees were able to grant awards that will make a real difference to some genuinely well-deserving cases.
Confidence in the idea of the Sherbet charity continues to grow as a result of their efforts and indeed the efforts of all our officers. As a result of this growing level of confidence, the trustees are in talks with more strategic partners, to whom we will look to demonstrate how enforcement officers can show a more caring side to their role when faced with a debtor who is suffering some form of hardship."
The Sherbet Foundation continues to develop and this coming year will see us launch a facility whereby people can donate money directly to Sherbet on-line.
We are always open to approaches from any charities or donors who wish to help Sherbet in its work of assisting families in poverty.
